Tucked along the quiet Balasore coastline of Odisha, Dublagadi Sea Beach — also known as Bagda Beach — is one of the most peaceful and unspoiled stretches of shoreline in eastern India. As a family-run resort located right beside the sand, the team at Jolly Jungle Beach Resort welcomes guests to this hidden coastal escape every week, and we have put together this complete guide to help you plan your visit.
Where is Dublagadi Sea Beach?
Dublagadi (Bagda) Sea Beach lies in the Balasore, also spelt Baleswar, district of Odisha, roughly 34–35 km from Balasore town. The shoreline is backed by dense casuarina and pine forests, giving the whole area a calm, green, wind-swept feel that is very different from Odisha’s busier tourist beaches.
What makes Dublagadi Beach special
Unlike crowded commercial beaches, Dublagadi has stayed wonderfully untouched. Here is what our guests love most:
- Wide golden sands that stretch for kilometres, perfect for long, quiet walks.
- Red crabs scuttling across the shore at low tide — a favourite with children and photographers.
- Pine and casuarina forests lining the beach, offering shade and a fresh, foresty breeze.
- Spectacular sunrises over the Bay of Bengal, with very few people around to share them with.
Things to do at Dublagadi Beach
Most visitors come here to unwind, but there is plenty to enjoy: early-morning beach walks, watching the red crabs, photography along the tree line, beachside bonfires in the evening and overnight camping under the stars. The calm, shallow setting also makes it a relaxed spot for families with children.
How to reach Dublagadi Beach
By train: The nearest railway station is Balasore (station code BLS), about 3.5 hours from Howrah (Kolkata). From the station you can hire an auto-rickshaw or taxi to the beach, roughly an hour’s drive.
By road: Dublagadi is around 245–250 km from Kolkata — about a 5-hour drive via NH-16. From Balasore town, follow the route via Haldipada and Hanuman Chhak to reach Bagda–Dublagadi.
By air: The nearest airport is Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, about 200 km away.
Best time to visit
October to March offers the most pleasant weather — clear skies, cool breezes and ideal conditions for sunrises and bonfire evenings. The monsoon months bring lush green surroundings for those who enjoy a moody, rain-washed coast.
